GRADUATION PROJECT RECORDING SESSION IV : BÜYÜKADA

The project is called “the Islands against the Big City”. It includes recording sessions, electronic music composition and acoustical composition with the aspects of soundscape, sound analysis and resynthesis. The total result will be an acoustical composition.

“Büyükada” means big island and after three islands this one was really big and tiring. I went there earlier than i did for other islands hoping that on Sunday, i can catch a liturgy in the orthodox Rum churches. I heard while i was passing a building which doesn’t really seem like a church but couldn’t find a way to get inside. Also I didn’t want interrupt anything so I decided to record outside because it was audible. So the soundscape was really interesting BUT i wasn’t recording at the moment i thought that i’m recording… Unfortunately only a short unclear version exists from the same area as you may hear, clicking play button below. There are also other sounds in the excerpt. I enjoyed steep slopes and nature of Büyükada, recorded and came back inspired.
